About
RacerCruiser.org is the website of an initative that grew out of the Chesapeake Bay Yacht Racing Association back in 2014.

There was a growing trend toward races and racing in general that was discouraging for heavier, cruising oriented boats to continue participating in the schedule of point-to-point and longer distance races on the Chesapeake Bay.

So a small team of like-minded racers and racing administrators got together to launch their brainchild:  an organization where owners of cruising boats could compete against one another and not have to go head-to-head with stripped-out racing boats.

The concept was simple:  race what you sail and enjoy laid-back sailing to fun destinations.

We teamed folks up with a rating rule that recognizes the character and details of their  cruising boats that lets them compete fairly against similar (and sometimes less similar) vessels.

The concept has caught on and now has expanded past the Chesapeake such that we've had to rebrand the concept into the ECRCA - East Coast Racer Cruiser Association.

Feel free to email one of us if you have any questions.  Racer Cruiser fleets are among the fastest growing racing classes on the Chesapeake and elsewhere.  Why?

Fair ratings, fun folks and great races to enjoyable destinations!

See you on the water!
